The Elementary Teachers’ Federation has launched a new and extended
Equity Statement which includes a definition of the Anti-Oppressive Framework. To support all members in using the Anti-Oppressive Framework and deepening equitable practices in all union, school, and community spaces, ETFO has produced a new resource: Anti-Oppressive Framework: a Primer.
The document provides an entry point for all learners and an opportunity for critical engagement, understanding and action planning on anti-racist education, anti-oppressive practices and equity initiatives.
This resource includes:
- A definition and description of the anti-oppressive framework;
- Common equity-related terminology;
- Explanation and guiding questions of seven components for implementing the anti-oppressive framework; and
- Proactive strategies and resources to address oppression within individual, ideological and structural spaces.
